Expectations

These expectations are for all members of this game. Violation of any of these principles may result in moderator action, up to and including dismissal. If you have questions or concerns about what is expected of you, contact the moderators at wefloatmods AT gmail.com. Application to and acceptance into this game assumes your ability to meet these expectations.

Characters

Each player may have up to three main characters. Players must prove an ability to keep multiple characters active to maintain three characters or they will be asked to drop the least-played.

Each player may have only one Ace. Other characters must come from the Deuce, Joker, Joker-Ace, or Nat classes. There is no requirement that a player have an Ace, and no limit on the other classes, so a player could have three Jokers if they wanted.

All characters need to take action of some kind. We prefer characters who advance story and promote conflict in some way, whether that be through being adversarial or proactive.

Characters should never be picked up with the sole intention of being played for ship purposes. An application can be declined if the moderators do not feel that the character has any basis for game play beyond shipping.

Nonhumans will not be considered at this time.

Powers are contingent on moderator approval of the application. We prefer that two-part powers be related and reasonable. The moderators like limits to powers. Additionally, powered characters must have an OOC writeup on their wiki pages, detailing their powers, including the limits of those powers. This is not optional, and we will enforce any IC godmodding that results (ie: a character's claim that they know the secret power another character holds) but the moderators dislike being surprised by add-on powers and hate having to spank players.

Activity

This is a small game. As such, activity is VITAL. All characters are expected to do, on average, two journal posts and one RP every month. High activity in one format or the other is accepted as a substitution. Not all characters are journalers. Not all characters are in a position to do active roleplays. You do, however, need to do one or the other. Likewise, because the game is small, we expect players to make a reasonable effort to play with a variety of players/characters.

Activity checks will occur regularly. Any inactive characters will have one week to become active or they will be removed from the game. Habitual abuse – ie, twice in a row with no explanation - of the grace period will result in removal of the character from the game.

Synopsis posts will occur regularly; we expect players to contribute relevant information for each of their characters. We strongly suggest using the character's wiki page as a repository for such information.

All characters are expected to be active in a minimum of one non-romantic storyline at all times.

All significant plots should be posted to the plot community for approval. Please see the plot board for more details on this.

In the event of a hiatus longer than one week, we expect you to make reasonable accommodations/explanations for a character's disappearance as part of your hiatus post. Otherwise, excuses can and will be made for you. In the case of frequent hiatuses, anticipate that your character may experience ramifications to jobs, relationships, etc.

This game is set in 2096, but otherwise runs in real time – ie, if an rp is dated April 1, 2010, that rp happened April 1, 2096. We do not suggest altering your journal’s settings so that the date reads 2096.

Things we shouldn’t have to say

IC actions = IC consequences. IC =/= OOC. We will enforce this and require retcons if necessary. You don’t have to like everyone – and they don’t have to like you – but everyone must behave like professionals. Repeated abuse of IC/OOC will result in dismissal.

We’re not Nazis, but make an effort to use well-constructed, spellchecked writing on the boards and journals. This also includes not using netspeak. Netspeak by characters in journal posts or RPs will result in a Sleeper rampage, destroying that character and journal, and creating a general aura of mod satisfaction.

Other

This game is 18 and over with mature themes. All posts of graphic nature or sensitive content are to be rated.

The only rule in terms of dealing with your fellow players and the moderator is that you give respect to all involved with this game. We're all adults here and should be able to act like it. If you have a question about what respect entails, this is not the game for you.

In the event of any problems with fellow players, we ask that the moderators be contacted. Excessive out of character drama can and will result in the expulsion of the applicable parties.

If you threaten to quit, we will show you the door and open it wider. Do not expect to reapply to the game if you leave under those circumstances. We are open to discussing problems with the game and helping players resolve them. We don’t listen to threats.

We welcome, respect, and value player contributions to the game. However, at the end of the day, the moderators run the game, and make decisions for the good of the game. We’re open to reason, but we have to care for the game as a whole first.

All personal contact information (including the moderators') is to be kept strictly confidential unless given permission from the people involved. Posts that round up contact information will be locked.

Please be sure that you understand the system for boards and journals.

Also be aware of the game's series play structure.

Always bear in mind that you are more likely to get traction with your plans if you know that the moderators will be infused with a feeling of good will towards the world as a result of your ideas. Also know that the moderators are interested in conflict-driven plot. We do not need to see happy bunnies all of the time.
